Human error is part of the game.  My biggest question is why didn’t the umpire crew huddle up after that call?  That would have been the time and place to overturn the blown call.  Look at that play in real time again..its a bang bang play with the pitcher covering first…it almost looks like he bobbles the ball and he’s reaching for the base.  Plus give Indian batter Jason Donald credit for hustling down the baseline.  It would have been real easy for him to just jog down the line and give up on the play.  I even heard on one radio station this morning that Donald knew he was out and should have said so….PLEASE!!!…you gotta be kidding me! 

I feel terrible for Galarraga.  But I also feel terrible for Jim Joyce as well.  In the postgame interview he obviously knew he blew the call and was tore up about it.  He no doubt knows this will be replayed over and over again for years to come.  But you know what…it happens..players make errors…umps blow calls…it’s part of the game..and Im betting that if the truth was known…Major League Baseball isn’t too unhappy with all the publicity.
